When you think of traveling through the Peruvian Amazon, chances are you picture the landscapes, the wildlife, and the river itself. And yes, nature is central to the journey. But there’s something else our guests talk about long after they return home: the food.
At Jungle Experiences, we believe that every part of the trip should reflect the region we navigate. That includes what’s served at the table. On board the Zafiro, every dish is a window into the Amazon. We cook with local ingredients, follow the rhythm of the seasons, and promote a slower, more mindful way of eating—one that honors the land and its people.

The slow food movement is all about going back to basics: fresh ingredients, cooked with care, and served with intention. And that’s exactly what we do on board.
We don’t focus on fancy techniques or overcomplicated recipes. Instead, we focus on making each dish meaningful—rooted in place, rich in flavor, and nourishing for both body and soul. Every meal is part of the journey, not a break from it.

Every ingredient has a story. And often, it comes from local suppliers or communities we work with regularly and respectfully. It’s one more way we support and stay connected to the region that sustains us.
Our culinary team works in a kitchen designed for creativity and efficiency—clean, bright, and well-ventilated. Each day begins early with planning based on available ingredients, route conditions, and seasonal considerations.
We don’t use a fixed menu. Dishes change depending on the journey. One day you might enjoy fresh fish with chili sauce and Brazil nut rice. The next, a creamy yuca soup with sachaculantro oil and handmade corn bread.
Everything is prepared on board—from the drinks to the desserts. We freeze only what’s necessary to maintain quality, but we always prioritize freshness.

One of the true luxuries of traveling with us is time. Mealtimes on the Zafiro are designed to be relaxed, unhurried, and immersive.
Each morning begins with a full breakfast: fresh fruit, natural juices, homemade bread, and warm options. Lunch is varied, balanced, and full of flavor. And dinner is served in multiple courses, blending tradition and innovation.
All of this happens with the Amazon as your backdrop: the river flowing, the forest whispering, the light shifting through the trees. It’s a moment to enjoy with all your senses.
Travel is also about learning. That’s why we often share the origins of the ingredients we serve. Sometimes, guests visit local markets before boarding and later recognize a fruit or a spice in their dish.
To us, food is a way to teach, connect, and protect. Using local products means supporting local producers. Cooking with respect makes the entire journey more sustainable—for the environment, for the communities, and for our guests.

Our cuisine isn’t an add-on. It’s part of the adventure. And it’s one of the things our guests remember most.
